The population is aging rapidly as the baby-boomers (born 1946–1966) reach retirement age. This age group’s share will rise dramatically in the coming years. At the same time, baby boomers own a large share of the wealth, around 50% in Canada and the US in 2020. The asset management industry will need to adapt its strategy to meet the needs of an aging population.
