Case study: New York, Multinational bank & financial services company
The Assignment: To come up with a cost saving strategy to relocate an international bank’s staff to two other cities. The Process: We needed to present a strategy that was not only cost effective but operationally efficient too. There were four key steps: designing a target location strategy, in this case Montreal and Mumbai, identifying which functions were to be transferred, coming up with an effective and scalable organizational model and conducting a comprehensive costs and savings assessment. The Outcome: Francois, Consultant, described it as a revolutionary project. “It completely changed the way the bank operated in North America. We effectively created a new organization.” In the end, the team put together a successful and cost saving strategy and the client achieved a return on their investment within 18 months."It was a huge responsibility for someone of my age and experience. It wasn’t just about getting the strategy right, I really had to develop my client relationship skills too. A project of this size meant having regular meetings with the COO and leading global conference calls with 15 or more people". - Jean-Philippe

We are proud of the benefits created for both the bank and its clients by designing a standard client onboarding framework in a bank used to offer bespoke service to its clients
Case study:
Geneva Swiss Private Bank - Operational excellence
“The main challenge of this initiative was to design a standard client onboarding framework in a bank used to offer bespoke service to its clients” - Julien
The Assignment: A tier-one Private bank mandated CH&Co. to lead a deep dive review of its account opening framework with the ambition to define an efficient Target Operating Model (TOM) and radically decrease client onboarding time.
The Process:The mission started with a 4-week assessment phase focusing on onboarding processes, internal and external data flows and a review of the monitoring framework. Our findings were then presented to the sponsor for review and prioritization. In a third phase we co-designed with internal teams the TOM supporting account opening processes.
The Outcome: An end-to-end operating model was introduced, with standardized onboarding processes, simplified documentation for clients, and automated controls within CRM tools leading to a 40% reduction in onboarding time and 30% reduction in data flows.

Deploy an electronic trading platform to improve the reliability, predictability, and quality of the client’ UST offering at an improved Cost Income Ratio
Case study: U.S., major CIB - Capital Markets
"The team supported the deployment of an electronic trading platform to improve the reliability, the predictability, and the quality of the client’ UST offering at an improved Cost Income Ratio. To develop such a platform, we also supported our client in the creation of a partnership with an external liquidity provider to leverage on their technology capacity and access their UST pricing and hedging infrastructure.
- Marie
The Assignment:
- Manage the 4 streams (Business Model construction, Data Monitoring set up, Build/Implementation and Risk/Clearing)
- Follow-up Global project roadmap, milestones, and dependencies (12 months of technical implementation, 6 months of legal negotiations and 3 months of change management)
- Ensure alignment of stakeholders (liquidity provider, Global Markets top management, project sponsors, stream leaders, etc.)
- Set-up and run project governance (daily scrum, weekly business review, monthly product committee, quarterly steering committee, etc.)
- Monitor global project budget and risks
The Outcome:
- Strong set-up to support pricing and hedging of transactions, ensuring a fast and reliable execution capacity
- Development on UST by:
- Keeping a trading team but with a reduced capacity thanks to automation
- Building its Auto-Hedger
- Sharing revenue on volume transacted with the liquidity provider
- Co-location infrastructure: the liquidity provider became the main pricing tool on US Treasury Notes and Bonds and our client gained in efficiency and latency by locating its infrastructure on the LP’s platform

Among the many awards we have won, our Bliss platform, which mixes UX and big data, won the digital award from Finance Innovation in France.

Interview Tips
Want an inside edge on your next interview at CH&Co? Here’s what our managers are saying:
“I interview people every week and my advice to graduates is twofold; be curious and ask questions. Too often candidates stick to the script in an interview. Think outside the box and tell me what you want to know”.
Jean-Philippe, Manager Paris
“They need to show me they’re motivated, to demonstrate they have an entrepreneurial mindset and aren’t risk adverse. They have to feel comfortable working in the grey zone. We want people who think analytically but also have the charisma to build good client relationships. We value ambition, so when a candidate says to me that in ten years they want to be partner, I applaud their “think big” attitude. That’s exactly the kind of people we want at CH&Co”.
Laurent, Managing Director Hong Kong
“My number one recommendation to candidates is to listen. We need consultants who can process and react to information quickly. And listening carefully will also give you the chance to better understand who we are, what we do and who you might be working with”
Jean-Francois, Director Paris
“It’s important to think about what area you want to work in and then be able to defend that choice. If a candidate expresses an interest in working in a particular sector, I’ll often quiz them on key data to test just how much they know about that sector or industry. In this business you need to have a global understanding of what’s going on and be able to support it with data”.
Edith, Manager Montreal
“You have to show that you’re ready to learn. My other piece of advice is really think about how you approach the business case scenarios during the interview. Keep it simple – being concise is key. Think about how you structure your slides and don’t forget to think about how you would present to the client. It doesn’t matter if the answer is wrong, we want to see how you got there”.
Benoit, Partner Paris
